MLK Jr. Elevated Us. Wokeism Degrades Us

I have been trying to find a way to magnify how far we have fallen away from Martin Luther King Jr.'s movement forward for humanity in general, and for our country overall. His transformation of our country, which was happening at an individual level, and at an overwhelmingly impactful level, has been forgotten, backtracked, and ignored in ways that have forced us to become something that is the opposite of what he, and others, were lifting us up to be: People who are unafraid to stand up for what is right.

When I was a teenager in the 1980's, I went to a racially integrated high school in Indianapolis, IN. We were at a place in time when Martin Luther King Jr.'s influence was still having an impact on how we interacted with each other, and how we connected in ways that went beyond the boundaries of earlier times. It was a great experience, and it shaped the way I felt about people in a life-changing way. I felt like we were headed to a post-racial society. MLK Jr. was assassinated two weeks after I was born. Later in my life, I could see that he continued to have a very positive influence on how we related to each other. It was focused more on character, and not on other things that didn't matter - race, sexuality, etc. Now that we have been consumed by woke ideology, we've been launched back into the time before MLK Jr. and others. We are supposed to say we're happy about it. I think we're not.

Wokeism is the opposite of where we were heading in the 1960's.. Wokeism is a "Wave the Flag" ideology (aka. "WTF Ideology" - dual meaning intended). It is a walk backwards approach to erasing all the progress that we achieved, individually and as a country, just so the people behind the WTF movement can receive credit for waving the "right" flag. There is nothing individual about wokeism. It's all group mentality, controlled by a very loud but very small minority. Under wokeism, all aspects of our society are now separated, isolated, silenced, divided and boxed into a space that enslaves all of us, even the people they claim to stand up for. Wokeism does a 180 degree flip on all the other movements that were successful in motivating us to be bigger. Wokeism creates walls, blinders, cages, and curtains to keep us silent and divided. We have become completely degraded by this ideology (i.e. treated and regarded with contempt or disrespect). I used to complain about these things inside the "safe space" realm of our lives, behind closed doors. NO MORE. I believe we are the Silent Majority, and we will be the people with the voice. We can't keep walking backwards. Let's get back on track, and believe that we are not imprisoned by the woke ideology. We can end this by continuing to stand up and get loud. We have each others backs, and I believe that will take their power away.
